10. "That's Gonna Put Some Butts In The Seats!"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGOvL4TQACM In the demise of WCW and rise of the WWF, one quote really stands out, caught on camera to haunt WCW Nitro commentator Tony Schiavone for the rest of his life. "If you're even thinking about changing the channel to our competition, fans, do not. Because, we understand that Mick Foley, who wrestled here one time as Cactus Jack, is going to win their world title. That's gonna put some butts in the seats!" The night was January 4th 1999, with the pre-recorded Raw up against the live Niro. WCW President Eric Bischoff instructed Schiavone to spoil the main event result, believing that it would ruin Raw and make Nitro fans laugh that a guy like Foley is WWF Championship material. But it royally backfired. Almost half a million Nitro fans immediately switched to Raw, wanting to see the popular Foley win the title. Raw ended up doing a 6.2 rating to Nitro's 4.1. Bischoff's instructions to Schiavone had killed WCW's evening. Foley later left a message with Schiavone that he was sickened, leading to the WCW announcer calling the WWF star back and explaining that he'd been under instruction from Bischoff. He apologised, but the comment still haunts him to this day.
