The harrowing reasons behind Triple H's absence from all things WWE and sudden retirement from in-ring action shocked just about every wrestling fan out there.

Most were aware that The Game has been forced to step away from both working behind-the-scenes at NXT and WWE in general due to a cardiac event in September 2021. But nobody really knew just how close Trips came to the "one yard line" during this no-doubt terrifying period.

As the eventual new head of WWE creative would tell ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, his viral pneumonia and inflamed lungs soon led to the star coughing up blood. And it was after a subsequent thorough examination from doctors that Paul Levesque was suddenly told to pack a bag and head straight to an emergency room, with his heart's ejection fraction sitting at just 30% - some way away from the 55-60% which is classed as a good ejection fraction.

By the time he got to the ER, he was down to just 22%. And by the next morning, he sat at a startling 12%. In other words, Trips was "nosediving". In fact, Levesque would eventually explain that he had 99.9% blockage in his left anterior descending artery, and he was "basically moments away" from being "gone".

The fact the Cerebral Assassin is even alive, let alone now fit enough to run the absolute chaos that is WWE's main roster, is a miracle in itself.
