7. Scott Steiner's Solo Success (1993)

Consider this one 'Royal Rumble 1993: Rise Of The Genetic Mullet'.

It's another from WWE creative man Bruce Prichard. Back in the mid-90s, he was one of McMahon's closest confidants, and he was trusted to write most of the promotion's TV output with fellow wizard (and Rumble royalty) Pat Patterson. Together, they had quite the idea for the '93 event.

Bruce loved the thought of tag star Scott Steiner becoming a standout solo sensation during the match and somehow managing to upset the odds by going all the way. The plan was for Steiner to showcase himself by pulling off flashy suplexes before possibly becoming WWF Champion at WrestleMania IX.

It was a plan Vinnie Mac wasn't fond of, and that was that. He wanted towering heel Yokozuna to win the Rumble and become champion at 'Mania in Las Vegas, not anyone else. Any hopes Prichard and Patterson had of watching the super-athletic Steiner become an overnight smash hit went up in smoke.
