Much was made earlier this year when John Cena equalled Ric Flair's record of 16 World Championship reigns with victory over AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble.
But is it possible WWE have got their maths wrong?
If you tally up the Nature Boy's official title reigns, then you find he had two in WWE, eight in WCW and nine in the NWA. By our calculations, that's a total of 19 - and that's without even getting into those all those occasions on which Flair was alleged to have lost his belt to a hometown hero to appease the riotous local crowd before winning it back the next day.
To be honest, it doesn't really matter. Whichever way you slice it, Flair leads the way in terms of World Title wins. It's just that, if you go by the actual history and not the version WWE insists upon for reasons known only to them, then Big Match John actually has a lot of catching up to do before he can honestly claim to be the best ever.
