10 Shocking Secrets WWE Don't Want You To Know
8. Their Ratings Are On The Slide
Stephanie McMahon greeted WWE's tri-annual financial results last week by hailing what she called the best quarter in the company's history.
We're not going to argue with Stephanie here. If she says it's the best quarter ever, then by some metric or other - Network subscriptions among men aged between 35 to 44 in Arizona who also own a Buffy The Vampire Slayer boxset, perhaps - she's probably telling the truth.
But it's also reported month after month that WWE TV ratings are on the slide. Viewers are turning off in their droves, particularly when it comes to Monday Night Raw's difficult third hour, which has turned the once-great flagship show into a grueling marathon.
True: ratings don't matter as much they once did. The company isn't faced with a looming existential threat the way it was when Ted Turner was on the wrestling scene, but it is perhaps a source of worry.
They are plainly struggling to produce a compelling product, and if that continues their bottom line may take a hit, too.
