It seems crazy to consider now, but the WWF really did come close to going out of business in 1995 to 1997. WCW was just destorying the WWF in those years. Guys like Diesel, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, they just couldn't compare to the business WCW was doing with Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Randy Savage and Sting. When the NWO was then formed in 1996, the burn on WWF was spectacular. The gulf was massive and it was hard to see how Vince could ever turn things around. Bischoff was that dominant. Allegedly, 1995 was such a bad year, that Vince McMahon removed all the water coolers from WWE HQ. The WWF lost $4,431,000 that year and really did face a grim future against WCW's bigger budget. But things turned around. A younger generation were starting to come through to the WWF roster, as an old rot set into WCW's roster. Just half a decade and a bit later, it was WCW shutting up shop, after losing $62 million in 2000.
