10 Shocking WWE SmackDown Moments You Never Saw Coming

2. Edge Cashes In On The Undertaker (2007)

It's sometimes surprising to think that the 'Money In The Bank' concept has been running for as long as it has. Even as far back as 2007, WWE were entertaining the idea of a 'floating' number one contender, someone who had the chance to cash in at any time. In May, 2007, that happened on one edition of Smackdown, and it was the 'Ultimate Opportunist' Edge who capitalised. Following a memorable Steel Cage war between The Undertaker and Batista, Mark Henry attacked 'The Deadman'. Beating him down, Henry left 'Taker laying. This wasn't out of the ordinary, because both men had previously been feuding. What did surprise fans in attendance was when Edge's entrance music hit, and the Canadian vied to win the World Heavyweight Title. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7FmUijrySs Back in '07, Money In The Bank cash ins were still pretty shocking. This one from Smackdown is often forgotten about when fans recall the best, but Edge played his role brilliantly. His facial expressions throughout the short encounter are tremendous, because he really comes across as a dirt bag individual taking advantage when the champion is weak. This would sow the seeds for the epic feud between both men that was to come later.
