10 Shocking WWE Superstar Firings No One Saw Coming

2. CM Punk

Yes, CM Punk technically quit when he walked out following the 2014 Royal Rumble, but the ever vocal former WWE superstar made it abundantly clear on a controversial podcast that he was, in fact, fired. On his wedding day. The WWE has since denied that doing so was a deliberate act on their part, though based on comments from Punk there was a fair bit of evidence pointing to it being a somewhat malicious move by Triple H. The fact is, with two conflicting sides of the story, chances are that the truth will never be fully established. Still, both Punk's decision to walk out and the fact he was ultimately fired were massively shocking. After all, it sounds like there was at least a small chance of reconciliation at one point until those papers arrived on the day the Chicago born superstar was set to marry former WWE diva AJ Lee. The whole situation was poorly handled and a PR nightmare for WWE. With Punk now set to head into the octagon sometime in 2016, he's lost the respect of many fans with his disparaging remarks about wrestling and has completely dismissed the notion of ever making a return (he may want to see how he fares in UFC first since writing the odd comic book for Marvel certainly won't pay the bills for very long).
