10 Shocking WWE Superstar Firings No One Saw Coming
4. Hulk Hogan
Hulk Hogan's well-publicised return to the WWE didn't end up being all that exciting, with the over-the-hill Hulksta pretty much only making sporadic appearance on WWE programming to shill the WWE Network. The highlight of those was really seeing how many times he'd botch a promo, but for the most part the WWE Universe happily accepted that he would be a semi-regular presence in the company moving forward. That's what made his sudden dismissal such a shock. The reason why he was fired perhaps wasn't that surprising (there's no way the PG WWE could keep him around after that), but no one could have ever guessed that Hulk Hogan of all people would be publicly fired and removed from the Hall of Fame barely no time at all after making such a huge splash by coming home to the WWE. It was ultimately Hogan's ongoing legal battle about a leaked sex tape which tripped him up, with a racist rant from that making it apparent he's not the kind of guy the company wants representing them in any way. Surprisingly, while it was Vince McMahon who decided that Hogan should be fired, it was Triple H that delivered the news. Hogan has since made a number of daft excuses for his comments and clearly remains hopeful that he's one day to return to the WWE. For the foreseeable future, it's hard to imagine any possible scenario where that could happen, especially if you assume Vince was too livid to call Hogan himself.
