10 Shocks WWE Could Pull At Royal Rumble 2020
5. Cain Velasquez Doesn't Target Brock Lesnar
WWE will try again with UFC bad ass Cain Velasquez at the Rumble, according to Wrestling Observer chief Dave Meltzer. Following his tepid loss to Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel, Cain disappeared to rehab injuries and should come back refreshed and raring to go if he is in the 30-man match.
It'd be a total shocker if he didn't resume his battles with old foe Lesnar.
Meltzer has reported that Velasquez is keen to work more of a luchador style than an MMA-influenced one, and that could change his role in the match. Perhaps Cain will enter the Rumble pre-Lesnar and get eliminated before the WWE Champion even makes it out there. Wouldn't that be something.
There's potential in a heel turn for Velasquez against designated buddy Rey Mysterio before WrestleMania 36 comes around. Retiring the masked man there would cement Cain's status as a threat and give him a meaningful bit of WWE lore to work with going forwards.
