10 Short-Lived WWE Gimmicks You Totally Forgot About
4. Pancake Patterson (Titus O'Neil)
"I flattens fools!".
All hail Rufus 'Pancake' Patterson, the alter ego of Titus O'Neil that nobody asked for. On the 18 March 2013 episode of Raw (yes, a few short weeks before WrestleMania 29), The Prime Time Players interrupted John Cena's promo in the most ludicrous way WWE could think of. Suddenly, Titus was complaining about "the gout".
Claiming to be O'Neil's uncle, Patterson said his nephews Titus and Darren Young should have the merchandise Cena boasted and Young should even be on cereal boxes of Cocoa Pebbles. Meanwhile, announcers Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler asked one another if they were dreaming this whole scenario.
The 'Pancake' gimmick didn't last. O'Neil was back to his old self the next week, so we're guessing Vince McMahon didn't find his schtick as funny as Cena seemed to. Anyone complaining about WWE TV in 2019 should rewind for a look at this silly nonsense.
