'10 SmackDown Storylines You've Totally Forgotten' could be an entirely separate list. If it was, then the fact that some scaffolding fell on Roman Reigns back in July 2019 would definitely be on there. Poor Buddy Murphy just so happened to be in the background on camera when that happened, so he became a suspect.

Reigns confronted Buddy backstage and found out that Daniel Bryan's heavy Rowan was responsible for the potential murder plot. This eventually led to a pretty f*cking hot match between Roman and Murphy on the 13 August SmackDown; Buddy was so impressive there that WWE started to view him in a new light.

What was that about nothing being built to last?

Despite excelling every single he entered the ring, Buddy was a mere pawn in the simmering issues between top stars. He'd get some more shine as part of Seth Rollins' next gimmick, but the short-lived babyface push WWE nearly gave Murphy in 2019 sticks in this fan's craw.
