Retired from November 26, 2006 to April 22, 2007

During 2006, Lita was a hated heel. Following her affair with Edge the prior year, WWE writers felt she deserved a true heel's exit.

The woman who shared the first female main event in Raw history faced Mickie James at that year's Survivor Series for her Women's Championship. And unlike the aforementioned Edge, or the woman opposite her on the aforementioned Raw main event Trish Stratus, Lita didn't retire as champion. She wasn't even allowed the emotional sendoff she rightly deserved. She was left a mess in the middle of the ring as Shad and JTG of Cryme Tyme auctioned off her stolen belongings, including some very embarrassing items.

It's not wonder Lita took solace in a part-time return to the ring on the indy scene. She returned to action on April 22nd 2007 for the United Wrestling Federation, teaming with Jerry Lynn to defeat Austin Starr and former WWE Diva Christie Hemme.

Lita would eventually earn a Hall of Fame induction in 2014, offering a much more fitting tribute to this trailblazer of women's wrestling.
