3. The Hart Foundation Vs. The Bolsheviks - WrestleMania VI (19 Seconds)
For eighteen WrestleManias, this stood as the shortest match at the event. In many ways, it is one of the few ultra-quick squash matches that was warranted and also made sense. The Harts were quickly gathering steam as the top babyface tag team in the promotion, and a Tag Title match was in their very near future. The belts changed hands earlier in the night as Demolition defeated The Colossal Connection (Andre the Giant and Haku), so the Harts were left to continue building momentum. Build momentum is exactly what they did at WrestleMania VI, as they ran through Nikolai Volkoff and Boris Zhukov (The Bolsheviks) in under 20 seconds. Despite being the good guys they attacked the Soviets as they sang the national anthem, although being 1990 I guess we can give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm not too sure what relations Canada had with the Soviet Union outside of possible extreme northern land disputes, but the crowd ate all of this up. Before you could recite the first line of that anthem, the Hart Attack was administered and the Hitman and the Anvil were headed for an early, and unnecessary, shower.
Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
