10 Shortest WWE Championship Reigns Of All Time

6. Nine Days - Stan Stasiak

Stansiak A blast from the past now as we move into the single digit reigns. But despite its briefness, there€™s an intriguing backstory to Stan Stasiak€™s nine day title run. Stasiak defeated Pedro Morales to win the belt, thus ending the Puerto Rican€™s epic 1,027 day stint. However, just nine days later, he dropped the belt to Sammartino, who himself went on to remain champion for the next 1,237 days. Sandwiching such a short run in between two mammoth reigns did nothing to quell talk of Stasiak being a €œtransitional champion€. Fellow wrestler Frank Dusek fuelled such rumours with his version of events, claiming that bookers wanted to avoid having Sammartino beat Morales. Regardless of the truth behind this one though, Stan Stasiak will be forever etched into WWE history thanks to his nine day title run back in 1973.
