10 Small WWE Character Tweaks That Became DISASTERS!

1. Shane McMahon Is Hard As Nails

Big Show The Authority Why

Something happened to Shane McMahon from maybe 2009 onwards. Suddenly, Shane began to believe that he was one of the hardest dudes to ever walk the earth. Fans were spared some truly awful moments once he vanished from WWE for a while, but then McMahon returned in 2016 and made up for lost time by pretending to be 'Iron' Mike Tyson taking on all comers.

Vince set up a match between his son and The Undertaker for WrestleMania 32. Was Shane scared? No. He laughed in the face of danger and tweaked the nose of terror. This 'Boy Wonder' was presented as an equal to 'Taker when he still needed to be brave but out of his depth and capable of showing fear when it mattered most.

That characterisation had been the glue holding McMahon's matches together since 1999, and changing it to make him look like WWE's biggest swaggering badass was a terrible idea. Shane went from running away and picking his spots to going chest-to-chest with everyone from Undertaker to Brock Lesnar, and that was all to feed his ego.

Shane can be a brilliant character when used correctly. This wasn't using him correctly, or realistically.
