On the surface, the Bound For Glory Series was a very good idea. Sadly, TNA management would eventually undermine their own concept by making it convoluted and confusing, which directly led to fans becoming apathetic towards it. First appearing in the lead-up to Bound For Glory 2011, the Series had a league table format. Wrestlers scored points for winning matches in the 'Round Robin' style tournament. More points were awarded for pinfalls and submissions, but there were modest prizes for countouts and disqualifications. Given that the format began in June, and Bound For Glory didn't take place till October, there was ample time for thrills and spills. At no time over the promotion of the Bound For Glory Series between 2011-2013 did TNA make it all that exciting for fans. However, there was potential there. The idea of having Series matches take place on non-televised live events should have sparked interest, and there should have been a race to climb the leaderboards. Unfortunately, TNA tripped themselves up regularly, but the initial idea was fantastic.
