10 Songs About Wrestling You Need To Hear

3. The Crusher - Novas

This ditty was recorded in 1964 by garage rock band The Novas. It is a dedication to The Crusher (who sometimes went by Crusher Lisowski to distinguish from other Crushers).

The Crusher was a beer drinking tough guy who was known for his bolo punch and full nelson. The band’s frontman Bob Nolan imitated Lisowski rugged voice and admonished the listener to “Do the hammer lock, you turkeynecks!”

The Cramps covered the tune for their 1981 album Psychedelic Jungle. The Ramones also recorded a tune entitled "The Crusher" which was also about Lisowski, which appeared on their 1995 album Adios Amigos.

Previously part of the music project Face and the No Credits. It was really terrible. Hopefully less terrible is my writings about music, wrestling and other subjects. Respect the luchador mask and $5 poncho!
