1. The Undisputed Era

The inherent problem with debuting a faction on the main roster landscape is that there are so few existing factions for Adam Cole et al. to target.

There are just two:

1) The New Day - en enduring and entertaining act so popular that, in a rare case, it tends not to matter whether they win or lose; they can be parachuted into most slots on the card and elicit a major reaction.

2) SAnitY - an utterly hapless heel faction that barely lived before they were killed off in a near-Ascension-level record.

The New Day it is, then.

Fortunately, there is scope for an excellent debut series here, with a contrasting dynamic very easy to sell to the audience. The Undisputed Era are all business, intent on shaping the company in their own elite image. The New Day meanwhile are all smiles, only showcasing a serious side when it is beaten out of them. Doling out an impactful, brutal beatdown - not on the post-‘Mania SmackDown, to create that all-too-rare iconic and system-shocking moment - during an intentionally goofy segment would effectively draw the battle lines.

The prospective matches almost guarantee crowd-popping, all-action chaos crammed with saves, melees and key character moments designed to introduce each member: Cole sliming away from Big E throughout, Roderick Strong killing the big-bumping Kofi Kingston with backbreakers, Kyle O’Reilly torturing the sympathetic Xavier Woods with agonising submissions…
