Those lights that dangle from the ceiling, in other words. Once everything has arrived at the arena then the teams of technicians spring into action and tackle the lighting rigs first. Surprisingly, all of the work is done on the floor of an empty arena. There's no need for any technicians to abseil up and down from the roof of an arena (which must be a relief to them). The circle (pictured from the top of the 02 Arena in London here) is mounted on platforms which come to around chest level and attached to cables that dangle from the roof. Speakers are also attached to the rig and other dangling cables. It is then raised in two phases. Phase one sees the rig lifted slightly off the floor where everything is given one final test before it is sent up into the rafters. While this is going on in the middle of the arena floor (where the ring will be) two more integral operations are taking place at either end of the arena floor...
