10 Stars That Are Definitely Future WWE Hall Of Famers

4. Owen Hart

On a personal note, I feel I must respectfully disagree with my colleague Thomas Czarniak, who published this article on this very site in April of this year. Owen is absolutely worthy of Hall of Fame status in my opinion €“ and he will one day receive it. Owen Hart was one of the best technical wrestlers that the WWE has ever seen. He was also very, very popular as a mid-card heel. In addition, he was his brother Bret Hart€™s greatest ever opponent, all of which ought to be enough to ensure a place in the HoF, family ties aside. Owen was one of the most recognizable stars in the WWE of his era and everybody within the business loved him. On top of that, his level of exposure has grown since his untimely death and modern fans (who are, by and large, €˜smarter€™ to the business than their forebears) have come to appreciate his talents more than ever before. It just doesn€™t make sense for Bret and Stu Hart to be WWE Hall of Famers, but for that same honour to elude Owen. Of course, as with everything else, the Hart family is divided on whether Owen should go in (or if he would even have wanted to). In addition, WWE would probably not be willing to lend even more free publicity to the various factions of the Hart family who would only damage the company€™s public image in return. It is due to this, more than any other factor, that Owen may not be inducted for a while. WWE, for its part, would also not want to dredge up the old accusations of negligence (along with the possibility of resultant legal action) by highlighting an employee€™s shocking and untimely death, either. However, as we€™ve seen over and over again, time heals all wounds in wrestling... One day, we WILL see Owen Hart in the WWE Hall of Fame; he was too talented, too beloved and too memorable not to be included €“ and his legend is still growing.

I am a professional author and lifelong comic books/pro wrestling fan. I also work as a journalist as well as writing comic books (I also draw), screenplays, stage plays, songs and prose fiction. I don't generally read or reply to comments here on What Culture (too many trolls!), but if you follow my Twitter (@heyquicksilver), I'll talk to you all day long! If you are interested in reading more of my stuff, you can find it on http://quicksilverstories.weebly.com/ (my personal site, which has other wrestling/comics/pop culture stuff on it). I also write for FLiCK http://www.flickonline.co.uk/flicktion, which is the best place to read my fiction work. Oh yeah - I'm about to become a Dad for the first time, so if my stuff seems more sentimental than usual - blame it on that! Finally, I sincerely appreciate every single read I get. So if you're reading this, thank you, you've made me feel like Shakespeare for a day! (see what I mean?) Latcho Drom, - CQ
