10 Stars WWE Should Never Have Let Go

8. Chris Masters

It doesn't send a great message to talent when one works so hard to improve his work and then finds himself on the unemployment line anyway. Returning for a second crack at WWE in 2009, Masters worked his butt off to become a better in-ring talent and had noticeably slimmed down a tad from the stiff, muscled monster who struggled between 2005-07.

Primarily working on low-level shows like Superstars, Masters was having some of the best matches on WWE television in that period. It seemed only a matter of time before he'd be called up to either Raw or SmackDown and given something more meaningful to do. Suddenly, after bouncing between both brands, the 'Masterpiece' was gone once more in 2011.

He had improved, but WWE's writers still had no idea what to do with him. That's a poor excuse. Why even hire the guy back in '09 if there wasn't a solid plan for his character? Chris Masters of 2010 is the kind of talent WWE could be doing with today.
