10 Sting Matches You Must See Before His WWE Debut

1. Sting vs. Cactus Jack (Beach Blast 1992)

The best matches in wrestling history tend to benefit all involved. They are matches that cement legacies or create new stars that champion a new era in the industry. Those matches help get stars over with a new audience or bring a new side out of them that was missing. That was the case for Sting and Cactus Jack as they entered Mobile Civic Center in Mobile, Alabama for Beach Blast 1992. In a Falls Count Anywhere match, they beat, battered and bruised one another, introducing a level of violence to the product that the company was not accustomed to at that point in time. For Sting, it was a match that evoked aggression and intensity that he was not readily associated with. He had to dig down within himself to find a toughness fans had never seen from him if he was to defeat Jack, which he did and was better off for in the long run. For Jack, it was his career-defining performance to that point. It put him at the forefront of fan consciousness and made him a force to be recognized with in WCW. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1frusl_sting-vs-cactus-jack-wcw-beach-blast-1992-falls-count-anywhere_sport While those in charge would ultimately fumble the ball with him, allowing him to ultimately move on to WWE, where he would partner with Vince McMahon and the rest of the Attitude Era stars to put WCW our of business, it was nice to see some new blood infiltrate the company and gain some much-deserved attention.
