10 Sting WWE Matches You'll Never Get To See

The in-ring career of The Icon may very well have passed, so the time has come to lament some lost dream matches.

When Sting finally arrived in WWE at Survivor Series 2014, it was a sight as shocking as it was exciting. It was one of the great moments in professional wrestling that nobody thought they would see, as the one man who seemed destined to forever stay out of the clutches of Vince McMahon finally turned up on his show. In the crazy world of pro wrestling however, 'never' is not in the dictionary. Sting made his in-ring WWE debut at WrestleMania XXXI in a losing effort to Triple H, before going on to challenge Seth Rollins later in the year. Though he lost that match too, the more important development was that he picked up an injury that seems to have ended his active wrestling career. Sting suffered very serious neck damage whilst taking a fairly routine buckle bomb, and has since gone under the knife to correct cervical spinal stenosis. His days between the ropes may be done. Sting was never going to have a hundred matches in WWE, but as with any legend coming to the end of their career there is a laundry list of potential opponents a mile long that we would have loved to have seen. A Sting retirement tour could have brought forward some powerful nostalgia, whilst showing that even in his fifties, the man could still go. All of this is now most likely lost. As such, here are 10 Sting WWE matches that you'll most likely never get to see.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
