7. Kong Vs Kong

In the years since All Elite Wrestling launched, Tony Khan has proven rather skilled at presenting matches you didn't know you wanted until he showed you the graphic.

It's happened too many times to be a fluke, and the most remarkable pairings on Dynamite and Rampage have been bedfellows so strange that they can't even be considered dream matches lest that imply it was in anybody's head in the first place.

None of this applies to the Kong derby.

Aja Kong and Awesome Kong had fought before, but the second their names were brought up as unexpected additions to the fledgling women's division, the wrestling fanbase collectively held its breath and awaited 2019's version of a classic. AEW were soon to debut on TNT as a weekly television show, and pay-per-views were set to contain contests worthy of the prestige spot. Destiny was smiling on performers and promoter alike, but that was all it did.

The match never happened, with Awesome Kong wrestling just four more times for the company before the abandoned Nightmare Collective story brought about the expedited end of her time with the company. Aja Kong did even less, going almost two years without an AEW match before cameoing in the Japanese bracket of their 2021 eliminator tournament.
