2. Brandi Rhodes' Unbeaten Run To The Title

It was looking increasingly possible that Brandi Rhodes could and would have competed for a Women’s Title in AEW had her and Cody not sensationally exited the company instead.

Though it was confined to Dark and Dark: Elevation, Brandi was in the process of building up an undefeated streak to rival that of TBS Champion Jade Cargill whilst also riding high enough in the rankings to eventually call for a World Championship clash with Britt Baker or whomever was holding gold by the time she wished to challenge.

What may have seemed like fluff on the fringes was serious business in the company where wins and losses actually matter - a continuation of this angle would have made her situation untenable if she didn’t get a shot. It may have taken time (and a little more focus than was becoming the norm for a Rhodes programme), but AEW haven’t shied away from doing the work in tribute to the founder that coined the phrase.

Regardless of how it ended in real life, the destination seemed assured before her and Cody’s sensational departures.
