10 Storylines AEW Should Abandon RIGHT NOW

7. Britt Baker Vs Kris Statlander

Eddie Kingston Chris Jericho
AEW

It’s not that Britt Baker and Kris Statlander won’t have a great match.

It’s actively not that, in fact. The pair assembled a total ripper at All Out, and will likely help pop some sizeable numbers on opposite sides of the ongoing Elite/Best Friends feud should they remain involved after the original mixed tag alongside Adam Cole and Orange Cassidy respectively.

But we’ve seen this. We’ve seen all of this. And recently too.

Baker isn't short of opponents in a women's division the company has worked diligently to improve over the past six months. Statlander is presumably here to lose en route to a feud with the turning Layla Hirsh, but in the fairly likely event she puts her over too, what a slide it is for somebody so vastly improved.

Herein lies a problem within a problem - one of the strengths of AEW's thoughtful and textured approach through much of 2020 and 2021 was in creating combinations that sprawled into others you were excited to fantasy book. This feud (and others on this list) find all roads leading to ends that aren't exactly dead but don't feel that alive.
