10 Strangest Wrestling Gimmick Matches

2. Chamber Of Horrors Match

The early 1990s were dark times in World Championship Wrestling and nothing illustrated that point better than the Chamber of Horrors match at Halloween Havoc 1991. Capitalizing on the Halloween theme of the show, WCW booked a match that included such legends as Vader, the Steiner Brothers, Mick Foley, Sting, and Scott Hall. With names that like, you would figure that a great match was automatic, however WCW decided to put them in one of the weirdest gimmick matches in history. The Chamber of Horrors consisted of a large Thunderdome cage that covered the whole ring and the only way to win the match was to (and this is serious) strap your opponent into an electric chair and throw the switch. Yes, this was a thing that happened. They expected us to pay for it and not laugh at it and everything. The wrestlers brawled aimlessly until the electric chair was lowered into the ring while the match was in progress, causing everyone to stop and stare at the chair in awe. More weak brawling followed until Abdullah the Butcher had the honor of being strapped into the death chair. He was then "electrocuted" while cheap-looking fireworks shot out of the sides of the chair and Abby shook like a guy on a vibrating bed in a rundown motel. It was completely insane. Oh WCW, how I miss you.
