10 Strangest Wrestling Gimmick Matches

3. Kennel From Hell Match

One of the most infamous matches of the Attitude Era, the Kennel from Hell match between the Big Bossman and Al Snow remains one of the oddest matches ever put on by a major wrestling promotion. The match was set up by Big Bossman tricking Al into eating his own pet dog (no, seriously), leading to a showdown at Unforgiven 1999. To get his revenge on the super-villain Bossman, Snow proposed a Kennel from Hell match. So what is a Kennel From Hell match? Well, the match consisted of the classic blue bar cage surrounded by the Hell in a Cell structure. On the arena floor between the two, Snow promised there would be a pack of angry Rottweilers who were poised to rip the Bossman to shreds if he dared to exit the cage. Which works, at least in theory, but the dogs spent the entire match peeing on the floor and humping each other. The Rottweilers seemed terrified of the wrestlers and the trainers had to drag the poor dogs around to give the illusion that they actually wanted to attack Snow and the Bossman. The match quickly turned into a nightmare of epic proportions and the Kennel from Hell was never mentioned ever again. As a side note, track down this match with Mick Foley and Kevin Kelly on commentary (it was an extra on Foley's Hardy Knocks and Cheap Pops DVD releases). They call the match like as if it were the main event of WrestleMania and it's absolutely hilarious.
