10 Strangest Wrestling Gimmick Matches

8. Good Housekeeping Match

Vince Russo is very well-known for his love of bizarre gimmick matches and the WWF in the late 1990s featured no shortage of them. Jeff Jarrett was the Intercontinental Champion in 1999 and was playing a misogynistic jerk who liked to beat up women like the Fabulous Moolah. Chyna, the WWF's preeminent hulking female diva, took up the mantle for womanhood and challenged Jarrett to a Good Housekeeping match at No Mercy 1999. It was advertised as a no-disqualification match but there was one catch: only household items were allowed to be used as weapons. This resulted in some of the goofiest spots in the history of wrestling, as both wrestlers were hit with eggs, salamis, and cake batter that was made during the match. Believe it or not, even the kitchen sink was used as a weapon during this battle of the sexes. To make the whole thing weirder, the finish saw Jarrett hit Chyna with the Intercontinental title belt and get the pin but the match was immediately restarted because a title belt isn't a household item. Chyna then nailed Jarrett with a guitar and got the pin to the win the IC strap. To summarize: a title belt is not a household item but balsa wood acoustic guitar apparently is.
