10 Strangest WWE Extreme Rules Stipulations

7. Hair Match (2010)

CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio The 2010 edition of Extreme Rules featured some rarely utilized stipulations for matches, including this one, the second in a trilogy of stipulation matches between CM Punk and Rey Mysterio. The first contest, at WrestleMania XXVI, pitted the two erstwhile superstars in a match that had Rey joining the Straight Edge Society if he lost €“ which he did not. At Extreme Rules, Punk put his hair on the line in a rematch, which tied in with how members of his society shaved their heads to show their allegiance. The match was a pretty decent bout, with Punk playing with and twirling his hair throughout the match, just to draw a little more attention to the stipulation. It also helped how he freaked out at every near-fall, the realization that he was one second away from losing his hair being too much. This match is notable for the re-introduction of Joey Mercury, who had been out of WWE for three years, albeit under a mask. With the Straight Edge Society sent to the back for meddling in the match, it fell to Mercury to bail out his savior, appearing from under the ring to attack Mysterio and ensure Punk€™s victory. Punk and Mysterio would have a blowoff match the next month that combines the stips from the previous two matches, with Punk losing the match and getting shaved bald. He would wrestle under a mask for a while before being unmasked and eventually setting off on a monumental run with WWE.
