10 Strangest WWE Hall Of Famers Ever

7. James Dudley

Given what the WWE Hall of Fame actually is, James Dudley's induction is not even marginally strange. It's cronyism at its absolute finest, with the vast majority of early matriculants selected less for their contribution to the industry, and more for their contribution to Vince McMahon personally.

Which is fine - it's his club. In many cases, the two overlapped anyway. Andre the Giant was a favourite of the boss, but was also a legendary figure in the business, so few question his posthumous ring-fitting. James Dudley, likewise, is another, who... no, wait.

If having a glowing career isn't strictly required, you'd imagine people having actually heard of you would be. It's not. Dudley was essentially the McMahons' chauffeur, who very briefly managed a handful of wrestlers, amongst them Bobo Brazil and Bearcat Wright. It'd be unfair to say he did nothing of note in wrestling - he was the first African-American to manage a major arena in the US after Vince Sr. put him in charge of the company's Washington D.C. output - but most of his contributions were strictly behind the curtain. He'd have been the ideal candidate for the actual Warrior award, except he was surreptitious inducted 20 years earlier before Warrior had even had time to fall out with the company for a third time.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
