10 Strangest WWE Hall Of Famers Ever
6. Edge
Should everybody's second-favourite wrestler named after an element of geometry be in WWE's hallowed hall?
Absolutely.
But that doesn't mean the timing of his induction wasn't a little peculiar, if not eminently understandable.
Holding his head up high with a neck cradling a column of fused vertebrae, Edge made an emotional valediction during the 11 April 2011 episode of Monday Night Raw. The numbness afflicting the Rated R Superstar was mirrored in the emotions of the crowd, as he tearfully announced his plans to hang up the boots for good. Just a week earlier, Edge had been on top of the wrestling world. Now the 'Master Manipulator' had been outmanoeuvred by fate.
Seemingly sensing Edge's star would quickly fade having been cut down in his prime, WWE hastily forged his Hall of Fame ring the following year. With a fifteen year company career behind him and more accrued gold than a Nazi-ran Swiss bank, Adam Copeland was a good fit for the Hall. But did it make sense to induct him so soon, when his legacy would have carried so much more weight after an extended period of reflection? It did not.
