10 Strongest Champions In Wrestling Today

5. Brock Lesnar (WWE Universal Champion)

If it wasn’t for Jinder Mahal, Brock Lesnar would be the most divisive champion in WWE today. He’s one of the company’s biggest stars, but his part-time schedule means he’s rarely around, ensuring that the Universal Title is barely ever seen on television. ‘The Beast Incarnate’ will finally make his first defence at Great Balls Of Fire (more than three months after winning the gold), and while his star power is undeniable, some fans will never accept a part-time champion.

Despite these concerns, there’s no disputing that Lesnar brings an element of prestige to a belt that has been booked very poorly since its inception. He’s one of only a handful of WWE superstars who still carries a genuine superstar aura, and his paucity of appearances often works in his favour, as it brings extra significance to the occasions he does actually show up.

Does Brock’s schedule ultimately harm his status as champion? Absolutely, and that’s what prevents him from finishing higher. Still, his reign is nowhere near as disastrous for the title as many would have you believe. If Brock can survive Samoa Joe, then go on to have a long, successful run, he’ll finally make the Universal Championship feel like the prize it’s supposed to be.
