10 Strongest Champions In Wrestling Today

3. Neville (WWE Cruiserweight Champion)

It’s a shame that most of Neville’s best work takes place on a show nobody watches, because the former NXT Champion has been one of WWE’s top performers this year. His entrance into the Cruiserweight division has resulted in a huge upturn in quality for 205 Live, and while the brand still has its problems, he has been an outstanding champion.

Neville won the belt by defeating Rich Swann at the Royal Rumble, and has held it ever since. The likes of Jack Gallagher, Austin Aries, and TJP have since fallen down as challengers, and though he’ll defend the belt against Akira Tozawa at Great Balls Of Fire, it’s hard to see him dropping the gold anytime soon.

Neville is regularly having some of the best matches in the company. His series with Aries was particularly excellent, and there’s no reason to believe the Tozawa bout won’t be just as strong. These contests, coupled with Neville’s outstanding character work, have taken the Cruiserweight Title’s status to a level that seemed impossible at the start of the year. Neville has not only elevated himself and the belt, but the entire 205 brand as a whole, and that deserves commendation.
