10 Stupidest Decisions By WWE In 2006

'Extremely' stupid, you could say...

It's the moment that many WWE supserstars dream of: winning the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania. Many dream it, but very few actually get to experience it. Among those least likely to do so are 5ft 5in, 160lb mask-wearing luchadores. In all seriousness, can you picture Kalisto ever winning the Royal Rumble and lifting the company's top prize on the grandest stage of them all? It's far from a likely scenario, but it's exactly what happened to Rey Mysterio in 2006. That year should have been one of the biggest in Rey's career. Previously viewed as little more than a cruiserweight performer who could probably wish for, at best, a United States title run, Rey was suddenly thrust into the limelight and pushed all the way to the top. But the reality was that the dream scenario wasn't all that it seemed, for either Rey or for WWE and Vince McMahon, who probably felt as though he'd make a mistake the second he booked Mysterio to last eliminate Randy Orton from the Rumble Royal. It was a curious call in a year that was full of them. From crazy booking decisions, to torpedoing promising title reigns and even resurrecting a group (or two) from the past, 2006 once again proved that WWE was far from infallible and could actually be counted on to make big mistake after big mistake.
