A rumoured match from 2016 now, as in a different universe we could have been moving towards a 'dream' match between WWE creative's two favourite playthings, Roman Reigns and John Cena. The coronation of Reigns as WWE Champion happened at the climax of WrestleMania 32, and his monster push was set to continue throughout the summer.

After steamrolling his opponents, Reigns was slated to come up against The Face That Runs The Place at the Biggest Party of the Summer, in a match that I'm sure had Vince McMahon giddy with glee. It would have been presented as the biggest match in the history of SummerSlam, making any fan over the age of 15 perform a series of questionable hand movements.

As it transpired Reigns continued to go down like a wet fart, and one failed drugs test later he found himself sans belt. Cena transitioned instead into a dream feud with AJ Styles, and everyone lived happily ever after.

Until 2017...

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
