Whilst it is fun to look back at wrestling rumours and imagine how wonderful certain feuds would have been, often it isn't worth giving up what became the reality. Way back in 2012 something of a dream feud was bubbling in World Wrestling Entertainment and on social media, as hardcore legend Mick Foley was getting some serious shade thrown his way from independent hardcore legend Dean Ambrose.

Ambrose was laying into Foley, blaming him for an entire generation having to put their bodies through extreme misery just to get a few bucks. Ambrose claimed that Foley's insane bumps in the mid to late '90s raised the bar of normality for his generation, and they would lose their limbs as a result.

All of this was to build towards a hardcore match at SummerSlam, where the torch would be passed from Foley to Ambrose. Usually that is a good thing, but in a hardcore match you don't really want torches getting involved. Foley's neurologist put a stop to the match however, telling Cactus Jack that he could never wrestle again.

A few months later Ambrose made his debut as part of The Shield, which was probably far better for everyone involved.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
