10 Super Rare Times WWE Promoted Rival Titles

3. Fool's Gold: The WCW Invasion

It's worth a few moments of your time checking out what Mick Foley has to say in a scathing promo on the Survivor Series 2001 edition of Monday Night Raw.

With ego bruised and aura diminished by an Autumn return that was mostly forgotten about, the 'Hardcore Legend' miserably marches up to the line without quite crossing it when discussing the disarray the company had fallen into following WCW's demise back in March.

One of many issues with the Invasion was the complete bastardisation of the dream match, with WWE/WCW pairings and title bouts happening with such frequency that they filled every segment and lost all specialness. Foley zeroed in on this with his matchmaking, pitting all titleholders against each other at Sunday's pay-per-view to unify the belts in line with one organisation "going out of business" in the main event.

It was all just such a shame - the mere glimpse of the gold when the remaining Atalanta roster members brought them to Raw and SmackDown for the first tame was intoxicating. By November, it was all merely toxic.
