4. Boiler Room Brawl - Mankind

Mick Foley's first persona in World Wrestling Entertainment was the deranged Mankind, the very embodiment of human negligence. A socially awkward, pain-loving masochist, Mankind was at home with the rats and the mess of the sewers and the basements. As such, his trademark match became the Boiler Room Brawl.

The Boiler Room Brawl was exactly what it sounds like, a no-holds barred battle that took place in the boiler room of whatever arena the WWF was in. Usually, the winner would be the first one to escape the boiler room, although one such match in WCW actually ended in a no contest.

The first Boiler Room Brawl took place at SummerSlam 1996, where Mankind defeated The Undertaker thanks to Paul Bearer's shocking heel turn. Mankind also defeated Big Show in a Boiler Room Brawl at Backlash: In Your House in 1999.

Triple H has a 100% record in such matches, funnily enough. He has found himself up against Foley in two of the bad boys, defeating the Deranged One on episodes of SmackDown and RAW respectively in 1999.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
