In a shock to almost nobody, CM Punk tops the list as the one man who would undoubtedly save Payback. However, hes virtually guaranteed to not be there. Theres even doubts as to whether hell ever return, as photos show him well-slept and with a more relaxed figure, seemingly content in his retirement. The fact that hes from Chicago gets dreamers to convince themselves hes returning in his hometown arena it would blow the roof off but the chance for a better Chicago return was the March 3rd edition of RAW. A month before WrestleMania 30, CM Punk returning wouldve been huge. He could feud with Bryan for the title, he could get involved with Evolution vs The Shield, he could do almost anything. At least his social media silence is now over. Punk left in January and barely made a noise on Twitter until recently. He announced at a Chicago Cubs game that hes marrying AJ Lee next month, so hes pre-occupied with living a happy life, off the road. For the first month, WWE were remaining nice to Punk in the hope that hed return but, since then, theyve chose to ignore his existence. They even put a post-it note over his face in the background whilst filming an Ultimate Warrior documentary. So, unfortunately, dont expect any pipebombs from the Best in the World anytime soon. And its such a shame, because returning at Payback would be the biggest boost possible to the WWE right now.
