10 Superstar Returns That Could Save WWE Payback

9. Christian

It€™s sad to see Christian€™s career stutter towards a halt, due to frequent injuries. His first reign as World Heavyweight Champion was mostly due to his best friend Edge€™s sudden retirement and fan€™s emotionally attaching their support onto Christian. But his lengthy career deserved a title reign at some point and he got another during his long feud with Randy Orton. Since then, his TV appearances have been sporadic thanks to persistent shoulder damage, but he still received mini pushes. 2013 saw him participate in The Shield€™s second ever WWE defeat and receive a World Heavyweight title shot against Alberto Del Rio at Summerslam. Even this year, he took part in the Elimination Chamber for the unified world title and pinned Sheamus, despite eventually coming up short. Before Wrestlemania, Christian turned heel and became number one contender to Big E€™s Intercontinental title, until a concussion took him off-screen again. A return at Payback could see him demand a match with the Barrett-RVD winner and reinforce his heel turn, something which is bound to entertain the WWE Universe.
