10 More Superstars Who Had Better Careers Outside WWE

4. "Diamond" Dallas Page

There are multiple alleged reasons for why €˜Diamond€™ Dallas Page€™s career in the WWE was so disappointing. According to Hardcore Holly, Page was known to write unnecessarily long and complicated scripts dictating what happens in his matches (down to facial expressions), and once made these suggestions to the Undertaker. Others suggest that he was so desperate to work in the WWF that he agreed to get his contract bought out for half his price, making him seem like a less valuable contributing star to the company. What is important is that he got manhandled in the WWE, including getting pinned by Sara, the Undertaker€™s wife. After that, he became adopted the gimmick of a motivational speaker (which is something he did in real life), successfully defended the WWE European Championship against Christian at WrestleMania X8, before departing the company. It€™s a shame he was used to poorly when compared to his run in WCW. Though some say that his top spot in WCW was due to his close relationship with Eric Bishoff, Page did enjoy a lot of success in WCW, having matches with the likes of Randy Savage and Bret Hart, among others. He managed to win every title in WCW, including three reigns as WCW World Champion. Though his reigns were short, he was still considered a top star in WCW, the polar opposite of how he was treated in the WWF. He was very popular with the fans, and despite his age, proved that he could go toe-to-toe with the greatest wrestlers WCW had at the time. Part of this came from his dedicated work ethic, which included him going to the WCW Power Plant training facility on his days off or when the bookers didn€™t have anything for him. Alas, not even such a dedicated work ethic could help his WWF career. Thankfully, his post-wrestling career as innovator of DDP Yoga has helped many wrestlers and ex-wrestlers get into better shape, including Jake Roberts and Kane, among others. Since he€™s helping people get into better shape and be healthier, he truly has something to be happy about.
