10 Superstars Who Never Should’ve Returned To WWE

1. Batista

WWE.comWWE.comEssentially, a lot of these disastrous returns come down to booking. Take Mr. Perfect for example, who started off well by putting on a real showing during the 2002 Royal Rumble, but was ultimately uselessly booked by WWE from start to finish. And that leads us on nicely to a man who is the most recent returnee on this list - Dave Batista. This should have been completely different, and Batista should still be working with the WWE now as one of their top heels. Bringing him back and having him turn heel almost instantly was clearly the start move - with an Evolution reunion obviously in the pipeline at some point. It was all written in the stars - but instead, the WWE booked him in the Royal Rumble match instead of the hottest guy in the entire company. When you take Daniel Bryan's slot in the Royal Rumble, you know you're not exactly going to be well received by passionate, angry WWE fans. The reaction to him actually winning the Royal Rumble was perhaps the worst crowd reaction a Rumble winner has ever received. His return was such a disaster that the WWE scriptwriters even had Randy Orton refer to it on television. Batista quickly became Bootista, and a chronic booking mistake became evident about six weeks too late. Will he ever return again? Probably. But this time around, let's hope the WWE do it right and have Batista come back as a heel. His last couple of weeks during this latest run were pretty decent, but unfortunately, the first two months were a complete disaster.
