3. The British Bulldog
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sin3KSeDhXI Hands up who loved The British Bulldog! OK, OK, you can all put your hands down now. You probably love him for his first run with the company, including that memorable night at Wembley Stadium when he and Bret Hart produced one of the finest wrestling matches you're ever likely to see. But his inclusion on this list specifically refers to his final run with the company (he had a few), and the appalling way he was handled during that time. Bulldog had left WWE for WCW after the Montreal Screwjob, along with Bret Hart. Unfortunately, WCW had absolutely no idea how to book him correctly, and nearly ended his career after he was dropped onto a trap door at Fall Brawl, leaving him in hospital for six months. Whilst he was recovering, WCW sent him a FedEx informing him his contract had been terminated. Nice. Thankfully he did recover for long enough to come back to the WWE - but it was a real disaster. His exuberant ring attire and patriotic allegiance was part of what made Bulldog so successful. But because the WWE had rolled into the Attitude Era by that point, they decided to strip him bare (not literally), and completely repackage one of the most successful non-Americans ever to step into a WWE ring. The Union Jack clothing was gone, and replaced by a pair of jeans, like he was some sort of brawler from a nightclub. His patriotic theme music was ditched, and was replaced by some sort of rock anthem. He did have a run at the WWE Championship against The Rock, but soon after, he teamed up with The Mean Street Posse. Essentially, that was the beginning of the end for Bulldog. In 2000, just a year after he returned, The British Bulldog was gone from our screens again. Unfortunately though, this time, it would be for good.
