This is more due to his calamitous return to the company in 1996, after nearly four years away from the WWE. When it was announced he would return, things actually got off to a pretty good start. He squashed Triple H (then Hunter Hearst Helmsley) at WrestleMania 12, before embarking on a pretty interesting feud with Goldust. As mentioned, things were going well, and it looked like The Ultimate Warrior was ready to become a cult figure all over again, with a whole new bunch of fans. But then, relations became strained, and tension grew and grew between Warrior and Vince McMahon. It all boiled down to Warrior missing some house shows, allegedly due to him grieving over the death of his father. However, Vince didn't buy it, and insisted Warrior hadn't taken the time off for those reasons. So, just like that, his contract was terminated after just a few months back with the WWE. That was a terrible way for it all to end, but there can at least be some solace taken by the fact that WWE fans got to see Warrior again on their screens before he was tragically taken away from us in April 2014.
