10 Superstars Who Burned WWE Bridges… But Still Returned

9. Road Dogg

When it comes to burning bridges with your former employer, one great way to do that is to appear on international TV, and consistently call out your old boss and poke fun at them. And that’s exactly what Road Dogg did during his time in TNA.

It wasn’t just the D-O-Double G, of course, for Billy Gunn was also over in TNA with Road Dogg as part of the VKM tag team. The thing is, Billy is no longer employed by WWE and so is not really relevant to this particular feature.

For Road Dogg, that’s a completely different story as he currently takes home a paycheck courtesy of Vince McMahon - the real-life Brian James now working with NXT talents.

That TNA Voodoo Kin Mafia team was, well, just awful. Like, really awful. Going by Kip James and BG James, Billy and Road Dogg took a worked-shoot approach to their promos as they offered “Paul Levesque” and “Michael Hickenbottom” $1 million to fight them.

If that wasn’t enough to make audiences cringe, VKM also turned up at a couple of WWE events in some lame attempt to mirror D-Generation X invading WCW Nitro.

The on-TV shtick of VKM was only one reason why it’s surprising to see Road Dogg now back in WWE’s good graces, for both he and Billy Gunn spent their time away from WWE firing all kinds of shots at WWE, at Vince McMahon, and at Triple H in plentiful shoot interviews.
