10 Superstars Who Will Leave WWE In 2017
10. Goldberg
We’ll start out with WWE’s most extreme part-time wrestler, and work our way up.
Few believed that Goldberg would have been around at all in 2016, yet he’s already signed on for at least the early part of 2017. It’s safest to think he won’t make it into 2018. He’ll be 50 in Dec., and it’s hard at the moment to tell how his body is holding up, due to the fact that he only wrestled a 90 second match at Survivor Series.
He reportedly has a big money deal with Vince McMahon, and he’s fine with working more dates as long as he can continue making that sweet cash. You have to wonder then, how long fans will be interested in seeing him? Lesnar/Goldberg is likely to go down at WrestleMania, but who’s after that? Maybe Undertaker or Cena? Those seem to be the only big dream matches they can book him in. WWE is in the business of building mega fights these days, so they’re not likely to pay him a crazy amount of money to work against a Seth Rollins or a Kevin Owens (even though it would be in their best long-term interest), let alone a Bo Dallas type squash match.
Again, we still don’t even know if Goldberg is capable of working even a five minute match, which would greatly hinder his ability to negotiate for the same deal once his next couple matches have ended.
If everything works out, Goldberg may sneak into 2018 with another battle on his hands, but that doesn’t exactly seem like a safe bet.
