10 Superstars WWE Completely Wasted
5. MVP
MVP debuted on Smackdown with a ton of fanfare, and he quickly entered into a high-profile feud with Kane. While Kane got the better of the program, MVP's next opponent was Chris Benoit, and he defeated Benoit at Judgment Day 2007 for the United States Championship. MVP would hold the title for almost a year - and reign as Tag Team Champion with Matt Hardy during that time - becoming one of the cornerstones of the Smackdown brand.
MVP lost the title to Hardy at Backlash, and things started to change for him. WWE saddled him with a losing streak gimmick, and from summer of 2008 to early 2009, MVP didn't pick up a single win. Finally, he defeated The Big Show and turned babyface, but the losing streak storyline worked as well as it did every other time WWE tried it. He won the United States Championship again, but quickly lost it, then floundered for the rest of 2009 and 2010 before being leaving the company.
Throughout it all, he remained an amazing worker who should have been in the main event, but wasn't given the opportunity. After leaving WWE, he joined New Japan and became the promotion's inaugural Intercontinental Champion, but still never reached the heights he deserved.
