Is Omos possibly the most unlikely success story of 2021?
Let’s be honest, in the ring, Omos is as green as the Incredible Hulk, but presented just as powerful. His pairing with AJ Styles has been an unlikely, yet unmitigated success and its crowning moment was seeing the two of them win the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania.
Think back to 2020 and the first time we were introduced to Omos. Do you remember? He was the giant ninja aligned with Akira Tozawa and then got himself a new gig as Shane McMahon’s doorman for his ridiculous, short-term fight club.
Out of nowhere, he was paired with one of the best wrestlers on the roster and a large amount of credit must go to AJ Styles for the success he has seen. He does the big, bad giant spots pretty well and the two of them have decent chemistry. Thankfully, WWE didn’t split the two of them at the Draft, as there is no way Omos is ready to fly solo.
Although there doesn’t seem like a long term future for the pairing, there is no doubting that compared to 2020, Omos has certainly become a prominent part of the Raw roster.
